    More teasing from Favre...
    http://x.go.com/cgi/x.pl?goto=http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2401588&name=FPT-2401588-040812&srvc=sz

For crying out loud, Favre, make up your mind already. I'm starting to think Chmura was right about Brett being a selfish person.

    Brew Crew 162-0
    Or maybe not...

Anyhow, the most anticipated season is what seems like centuries has started 3-0, with a 2-1 lead through 4 tonight. Without going into specifics, they finally have a good young lineup, and if the pitching holds up, this team can contend for a wild card spot, no doubt. On the negative side, they started 3-0 last year, then proceded to lose 9 of their last 11 games. I really believe this year isn't going to be a repeat, though.

Not to mention the Badger men's hockey team advanced last night to the NCAA Hockey finals. I'll be in Mad-town with a friend for that one. Can't wait.

    Wrestlemania, Sopranos, and RAW...oh my...
Didn't order or see WM22; will try to get later this week. In lieu of that fact, I DID check out Ep. 4 of Sopranos, and to say this is the blowaway show I've been waiting for is an understatement. The newfound 'kindness' of Tony, the skeletons hopping out of Paulie's closet, gee, where do I begin? The seeds for betrayal are there for many factions of Tony's family, and it will be very intriguing as to how the boss handles it.

On the subject of RAW, all you need to know is that Jamal is back with some generic heel manager. That says it all, doesn't it?

    RAW
Actually halfway watchable tonight, although it still didn't make me wanna see WM22 anymore than before. The one area they did right tonight was the buildup for the Women's title, as they really did well in portraying Mickie James as the Carrie-like villain who just wants acceptance, and when she doesn't get it, psycho-woman takes over and wreaks havoc. Foley as Cactus Jack is the best way to go for the encounter with Edge, but I'm still more into hoping Lita bares more at Wrestlemania.

As far as the HBK/McMahon saga, take a guess...

    Sopranos Season 6 Ep. 2
Awesome episode tonight, as Tony doesn't die, but is in a coma (drug induced, mainly) and has bizarre dreams about lost identity, and possible Alzheimer's. The family itself does the usual reminiscing, and AJ of all people shows personality for once. I'm now truly looking forward to the remainder of the season, Sunday's just can't get here soon enough.

Definately 1000% better than last night's SNME, that's for sure.

    TNA Impact
I was so disgusted by what I saw from WWE tonight, I've decided to finally do a review of this show, so here goes:

    -From Orlando, FL

-Hosts are Mike Tenay and Don West.

-Recap of Scott Steiner beating up Sting.

-Opening interview: Jeff Jarrett introduces Big Poppa Roid back to the mix. The good news is that he still hasn't signed a long-term contract with TNA, so there's hope yet. He runs down Team ECW and Christian and shows all his HGH-induced arm. And then the inevitible dissing of the Stinger. With all the wrestlers in the ring, this eerily looks like the NWO in the dying days of WCW. Just saying. Per Steiner, he and Jarrett are the new face of TNA. In that case, WWE has nothing to worry about.

-Borash interviews Zybysko, who tells us he is in charge. Next week, Team 3D and Team Canada in a Six Sides of Steel match. Samoa Joe storms in wanting a rematch, but instead Larry tells him it's time to move up in the world. Joe doesn't take to that kindly.

*X-division qualifier: Maverick Matt vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Elix Skipper. No stopwatch with me, so I'm just doing the standard star ratings. The heels double-team Dutt then beat on each other. Japanese armdrag for 2 by the Mav. Blind charge misses, but a crossbody for 2. Spinkick by Elix for 2. Dutt out of nowhere with the dual dropkick for 2. Matt breaks up a Dutt counter as the pace slows. Dutt is able to drag Maverick outside, but Skipper hits a twisting plancha (must have learned that from Snitzky). Forearms abound, but Maverick Matt with a superkick. Dutt hits a 450 on both men and pins HBK Jr. Pretty good action, but I'd rather have seen Skipper and Dutt in a one-on-one match. **

-Simon Diamond goes to Chicago White Sox spring training and takes batting practice, courtesy of Alex Shelley Productions. Diamond claims the Demon and A.J. (the baseball player) ran away, but Tenay knows differently, as we'll find out AFTER THIS COMMERCIAL!!!

-And we are back, as Diamond confronts A.J. and the Demon, and Jerry Manuel decks him with a chair. Ah, those dirty Black Sox!!!

-Team 3D is ready to destory Team Canada next week.

*Abyss vs. Cassidy Riley. I smell squash...No selling by Abyss, as he boots Riley and splashes him int the corner. Torture rack powerbomb and Black Hole Slam as the pin is academic. DUD

-Christian is filming a movie, apparently...I'm starting to dislike how they're changing his character away from what got him over in the first place, i.e. a smartass. And per James Mitchell, Abyss is the new #1 contender and gets a shot at Lockdown.

*LAX vs. Norman Smiley/Shark Boy. LAX dominate early, but the faces turn the tide as we get the Shark Bite and a hotshot. The Big Wiggle, but K-Dawg uses the flapjack and LAX is back on the attack. A second flapjack misses and Shark Boy covers for the pin. OK then. DUD They boot Machete out of the group. Doesn't bother me, he sucked anyway.

*Shannon Moore/Alex Shelley/AMW vs. AJ Styles/Christopher Daniels/Ron Killings/Rhyno. Well, sure didn't take Moore long to slink back to WWE along with the rest of the JOB squad, did it? Shelley shows off, so Rhyno clotheslines him and backdrop for 2. Daniels gets tagged in and hits the armdrag. Baseball dropkick for 2 as we go to commercial. Back as the faces are in control, but Chris Harris nails AJ for 2. Moore with a back suplex for 2 and he grabs a front facelock. AJ fights off the heels and tries a moonsault, which he gets caught and then reverses to a DDT. Hot tag to Killings as he's a house on fire. Front suplex for 2 and it erupts into a pier-six brawl. Flying somersault by Killings, but Harris nails Daniels, only to be hit by the GOAR. Moore is powerbombed and the Styles Clash sends him back to Velocity. The usual energetic match from these guys. **1/2

    My opinion:

Not the greatest episode or anything, but like I said earlier tonight, for the most part they're going in a direction I actually like. Minus Steiner and Sting, of course.
    9:24 pm
    SNME is here!!!
Well, first show in 13+ years, so here are my thoughts:

*Cena/HHH vs. Orton/Rey/Angle. The reaction for Cena is in Toronto territory (think Rock/Hogan, if you know what I mean). The usual paint-by-numbers as Cena takes a beating for forever, Rey plays Ricky Morton for an extended time, kick, punch, hit signature move, etc. And of course Cena wins with a rollup as they continue to portray him as Rocky Balboa as the underdog. Difference is, Rocky didn't get booed. **

-Booker fakes an injury, so his match vs. Boogeyman is off. Yeah, just the reason that I want to spend $50 on a PPV, as they announce later that it is added to the WM22 card.

-The Cutting Edge just ends up as a preview of the Hardcore Match, although the Cactus Jack of Mick Foley comes out and gives Edge a conchairto of his own. Let's face it, I'm only caring about this angle in hopes that Lita will come out topless one of these days...

-JBL and Steve Austin in a beer drinking contest was about what I expected, which was not much. JBL cheats and gets caught, throws beer in Austin's face, Benoit comes out to throw JBL to the wolves, kick, stunner, that's all she wrote. Yippie.

-Candice/Vicki vs. Trish/Mickie. Pretty much a squash, as Trish hits Stratisfaction for the win. 1/4* Post match, Mickie FINALLY turns heel by giving Trish the Chick Kick and Stratisfaction. Not the Savage turn on Hogan or anything, but served its purpose and should be a major upgrade from the epic Trish-Hemme encounter we all had to suffer through last year.

-Mark Henry calls out 'Taker, which ends badly for the World's Strongest Man. I would elaborate, but I really could give two shits about their upcoming casket match. Plus Taker just adds another win to his belt anyway. Good riddance, Henry.

*Shane McMahon vs. HBK, street fight. Good brawl to start, with your 'Holy Shit' moment coming when HBK superplexes Shane-O-Mac through two tables set up on the outside. Of course, they both have ouies on their backs, so it basically becomes a slugfest throughout, with Vince using a kendo stick to help his 'demon spawn' regain control. He tries the Van Shaneonator, but HBK moves and Vince feels the wrath of the trash can. Shawn does the usual and hits the superkick, but Vince pulls the ref out, low blow to HBK, and a rehash (AGAIN) of Survivor Series '97 gives Shane the win. I had this one at ***, but it was all a mess, and the ending certainly didn't help. ** Hey Vince, it's 2006...give it up.

    My opinion:

Disappointing, disappointing, disappointing. If anything, this show made me want to see WM22 even less. When I'm looking forward to the Women's title match more than anything, there's a problem. TNA may be signing rejects right and left from the past (see Scott Steiner), but for the most part they have a direction that I'm into, unlike WWE.

    Major thumbs down.

    Forgot to mention this...
I had mentioned some earlier free agent moves in the NFL, but one that flew under my radar was the signings of QBs Jon Kitna and Josh McCown, which has to already be considered a huge upgrade over the failed Joey experiment, and I'm not talking about the NBC show, either.

Many people forget that Kitna was a Pro Bowl QB not too long ago, and McCown, while rough around the edges, has plenty of mobility and playmaking ability. Can't forget that they will be learning from offensive guru Mike Martz, who did wonders with QBs such as Kurt Warner and Marc Bulger. Oh yeah, there's those three WR studs who will finally be unleashed, instead of the 5-10 yard passes many Lions fans were accustomed to seeing. Trust me, this team will be scary in a year or two.

In other news, T.O. has signed with the Cowboys, and while most people think that he and Big Tuna will be at each other's throats almost immediately, Parcells has always rewarded guys who work their ass off, and Owens is one of those players. This offense also has scary potential, as Terry Glenn is still a good deep threat, and the Julius Jones/Marion Barber III two-headed monster was fairly effective last year. Good news for Big D, indeed.

    NFL Moves...
So Culpepper goes to the Dolphins and Drew Brees goes to the 'Aints. Very intriguing stuff indeed. The fact that the Fins only had to give up a 2nd rounder is pretty shocking stuff, but apparently the injury Daunte suffered last season was pretty severe, so I can see where the risk is involved. That said, Culpepper is the Samoa Joe of QB's (i.e. unbelievable athleticism for a guy his size). The downfall is that he has never been much of a leader and still doesn't impress me as the type that will win the big game (too many mental errors). But I hope it works out for Miami, as they have an up-and-coming team that could do some damage in the next few years.

The Brees move was a solid one, as well, as Sean Payton has a history of developing QB's and even resurrecting careers (Drew Bledsoe, anyone)? Not to mention he will have Joe Horn and Dante Stallworth to throw the ball to. I still think they are a long away from a playoff spot, though.

As for Green Bay, with all that cap room, they've signed Manuel from Seattle, and that's....it. Never mind that they need a kicker after losing Longwell and at LEAST one decent guard so they can actually, you know, run the ball better this year. Way to spoil us, Teddy Boy.

Yet another half-assed show, but at least I can look forward to SNME.

    Or can I?

    Rehash of Sopranos
I admit that I may have overrated the first episode of Season 6 just a tad, but it was still pretty damn good and really set in motion a lot of possibilities as to what could possibly happen (especially with Tony). Not a blowaway opener, but I expect the rest of the season to be up to the usual excellent standards.

    SNME...
    From 411mania.com:

    http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/38681/Potential-Spoiler-for-WWE-Saturday-Night%5C%5Cs-Main-Event.htm

Good idea of them to bring back JR, even if it's not permanent. While his best days as an announcer are behind him, he's still one of the best at getting an event to seem IMPORTANT (which Joey Styles is not adept at) and this one will have to be if they're ever gonna get the right promotion going into WM22.
    9:01 pm
    Sopranos
Well, just finished watching the long-awaited start to Season 6, and wow....a blowaway show indeed. Tony getting shot up by Uncle Jun at the end was the perfect finish to the foreshadowing that build up throughout the entire hour. Of course makes me wonder if Tony survives, and based on seeing the preview in recent weeks, methinks it may be a dog-eat-dog competition for top boss honors. Just great stuff throughout.

In other news...the cunt-o-meter has been rising once again. Wait, that's not news...

    RAW
Yet another horrendous episode, with more shitty wrestling and a direction towards Wrestlemania that I'm just not feeling at this point. When Smackdown seems to be carrying the momentum towards the biggest show of the year, there's a problem. I did, though, dig the Shawn selling of the 'poison'; made me see what he must have looked like in his party days. And another crowd crucifixion of Cena always puts a smile on my face and makes me really hope that HHH takes the title. Yes, I really said that.

    A good (and bad weekend)
Well, went to Madison for my friend's fiancee's birthday and had an OK time...I guess. I won poker tourney #2 on the year, which gives me some confidence (but it was over someone who had never played before, but oh well). Of course, no success in the girl department, and basically got dissed (again, I know, what a shock).

And people wonder why I don't try with the luck I have. Thank god for booze.

    I stand corrected...
Well, watched the Taker/Angle match from No Way Out, and gotta say, incredible stuff from both guys. The "neither guy had ever tapped out" dynamic played well throughout the match, and shock of all shocks, Undertaker sold an injury throughout (the left leg primarily). The other bitchin' part was how Angle kept escaping the Tombstone Piledriver and Last Ride, and in the end how he countered the Triangle Choke to win the match. Great stuff again from both, and an easy **** from me.

Methinks the Undertaker-Mark Henry match won't be quite as good, however...

    RAW
Surprisingly, not a terrible show or anything, although it's probably due to the WM buildup more than anything. The women's battle royal was god awful (in the negative star range) but the rest of the wrestling was for the most part halfway decent for once, and even though the Spirit Squad is a very annoying gimmick, the guys comprising it at least have in-ring potential. Oh yeah, and Jailbird Jannetty is back for the short term again. Shelton winning the IC title also was good; too bad no one cares about the belt anymore.

Trying to remember who won the triple threat, though. Couldn't figure it out.
